The first thing you need to do is find the estimated number of balloon cakes you will need. Next while using loaf tins to bake your cake mixture, you can also use different shape tins for a different balloon shape or buy a Swiss roll and decorate it to look like a balloon. You will next have to prepare the cake board. To do this you must cover it with ready-made sugar paste and roll it to a thickness of four millimeters. With the rolled paste over your rolling pin, transfer it to the cake board by unrolling it to fit, then, use the rolling pin to roll it firmly into place. Cut any excess with a plain-bladed knife to give a neat edge.
To add those last finishing touches to your balloon cake you can make knots with the trimmings of sugar paste and use either thin ribbon or licorice strands as balloon strings. These are just a few ways to make that perfect balloon cake for that special event.
So why not put a cool spin on the celebration and whip up a beautiful balloon cake.
