Tip 1: The beginning

This is so important for your wedding toast; begin by introducing yourself. Make sure you tell everybody shortly who you are, and how you are related to the groom. Start by telling this, because truth be told; if you are at a big wedding, a lot of people might not know you, and they don't know how you are related to the groom. This is a good way to start.

Tip 2: Be careful with humor

Humor is a killer tip for your wedding speech. This way you will capture the audience, and your speech will not just be a boring rambling. Put in some funny anecdotes or stories about you and the groom, but take care; don't embarrass or humiliate anyone. Many wedding toasts end up being mood killers, because the speaker embarrasses the groom or the family. Keep the jokes in a sober tone.

Tip 3: Be nice to the bride

A good best man wedding toast always contains some nice compliments to the bride. Make sure to state how lucky she is, or how lucky the groom is to get married to her.

Tip 4: Speak on behalf of the groom

Remember that the day is all about the newly-weds. As a best man, you also speak on behalf of the groom in your toast, and the guests will judge the groom on your behavior. Make sure to keep the toast clean, sober and funny.

Tip 5: A childhood story or funny story

This is truly a killer-tip; be nostalgic in your speech. This is what moves people, and if you can find a funny childhood story, or some funny and cozy story from the beginning of the relationship between the newly-weds, this will be a big hit in your toast. State how long you have known the groom, and maybe some of the funny things you have done together - but again, keep it clean and don't offend the guests.
